Is This Finally the End of 3D Modeling?!
Maybe….Maybe Not…One could hope?
Anyways, with this being the 3rd (or 4th??..I lost count) program on working on 3D modeling, I got accustomed to failing and getting stressed out on this struggle bus. Some days felt like the I was on Speed waiting for Sandra Bullock to hold my hand, others I was smoothing sailing ready to get on the Stan O’War and conquer monsters. But on this particular project, I think I actually had fun…at the end at least.

Tutorial shape
Okay so this was technically “Model #1” but it was the last object that I finished. I think this has become a recurring theme of me not even trying to do the first object, even though it’s supposedly the easiest assignment. But this is the point to where I feel the most confident in my abilities to work with Fusion 360 and the same goes with the other 3D modeling softwares. Followed the tutorial word for word thank you very much.

The flask YET AGAIN!
Honestly, I do not remember much of this assignment. I do remember staying another extra 3 hours into his classes just to accomplish this particular object. Also, realizing that he goes so much more slower and detailed in other classes compared to the first class, annoyed me a bit but whatever. This is just the life of a struggle bus school girl who would prefer to play some tabletop. Anyways, I think the most difficult and frustrating part was making the bottom flat and highlighting the edges around the flask to revolve. I think the highlighting in general was just the tedious part since I had to zoom in and out a bunch of times and hold the shift key so that I wouldn’t accidentally revolve the damn inside, which wouldn’t work anyways since a bunch of errors would come up saying I would overlap since the inside “liquid” only needed a 180 turn and not the 360 like the outer glass. Also, red was too boring so I made it sparkle.

Lampshade
Ugh. This was such a b**** to work on. My least favorite. And also one that I had to redo and retry till the very end. Completed this right before Model #1 actually. The hardest part wasn’t the actual making of the object, but figuring out how to attach the actual picture of the drawing to work off of and trace out the shape of the lampshade. Now I promise I do my best to pay attention in class but I guess I missed the part where I had to click on the “canvas” part of the insert and so once I got it everything else is just mush, I don’t remember much except pain in the head. And then annoyance once I finally got the “revolve” function, then back to mush. Although, I did remember Lucas’s favorite color being pink (which is also my favorite color btw), surprised it wasn’t red though. I am embarrassed to say that I confidently guessed wrong during class BUT thought that by making this pink it would be a cute kudos to him for liking an awesome color.

The P. Pan and R. Hood.
Okay okay. Isn’t this a masterpiece? I really wanted to channel Peter Pan or Robin Hood. So what if they don’t where bowler hats. THEY COULD if they saw this one!!! Now I also don’t remember much of the initial process except when I couldn’t follow Lucas’s demonstration of cutting the brim to be more bent on the inner part like the actual bowler hat….yes he was going too fast for the struggle bus…or maybe the struggle bus broke down…who knows. So I sketched two triangles pointed towards each other and made that bend in the middle. Maybe it doesn’t follow the traditional bowler hat style where it’s all smooth, but it’s spicier in my opinion. Making it unique and marketable. Also, I loved the green leather. Additionally, with my mini argument with Lucas of making it a hat for Peter Pan or Robin Hood, I made a feather out of spite by inserting a picture of a feather from google and doing that “spline line” thing (I forgot what it’s called tbh) and just traced it and made it solid. Also, there weren’t any feather materials to work with so I just went with a red cloth appearance. Super cute rightttttttttt.
